As humans, we have an innate need to recognize and celebrate the changing of the seasons, and fall provides one of the most spectacular shows for our appreciation. While Delaware is rich with state parks and city parks exhibiting beautiful fall foliage, we’ve collected a list of just a few of our favorite spots so you can observe nature’s magnificent show. Pro tip: the leaves in Delaware typically reach their color peak in mid to late October.

With more than 20,000 acres of dedicated state park territory, Delaware is home to many incredible and diverse opportunities for outdoor relaxation and adventure, from hiking and camping to swimming and fishing. It’s no wonder that Delaware is a popular vacation destination and that its residents enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle. Today, we’ll highlight a few of our favorite Delaware state parks, both highly acclaimed locations as well as hidden gems. Every state has its hidden gems. From scenic hikes off of the beaten path to sensational restaurants only the locals know about, every state houses unique treasures, and Delaware is no exception. One of these treasures is the charming and quaint town of Hockessin in New Castle County. Established by a group of families in 1688 near the northwest border of Delaware near Mill Creek, Hockessin has a rich history and is still very family-oriented today. These are just a few of the reasons that make Hockessin a desirable destination.
